Posted July 13, 2009. I have a new hot tub (Caldera Kauai) and I am able to get an initial bromine level by using granular sanitizer (85% trichlor and 15% sodium bromide), which lasts for 2 days. I have an inline spa frog system that is then supposed to maintain the bromine level without the further need for granular sanitizer.

Frog puts silver and zinc in the water, Nature 2 puts silver and copper (from copper sulfate and silver nitrate, it's right on the box!) Metal ions do have algaestatic and bacteriostatic properties but they have very slow kill times so a residual sanitizer (read "chlorine") is still needed with them.
The SPA FROG. Mineral Cartridge reduces bromine use up to 50%* because : With minerals in the water, bromine or chlorine use is cut up to 50%; Bromine Cartridge lasts longer: 2-4 weeks on a 350 gallon spa with average use. With minerals and low levels of bromine, the water feels softer. The system reduces odors and leaves water crystal clear.

Nature 2 cannot be used with bromine. It is actually a silver/MPS sanitizer system that uses chlorine for weekly shocking ( or more often as needed) and is one of 4 EPA approved spa santizers. The frog really will not let you use a lower bromine level in reality since the silver and zinc it adds have very slow kill times.
The Spa Frog system is basically a Nature2 system made to be compatible with Bromine. If you were happy with the Nature2 system, you should be fine with the Spa Frog - you'll still have to keep your water balanced, but basically a set it and forget it type of a system like the Nature 2. Hope this helps. tom the spa guy
The Spa Frog is Bromine and minerals. From my understanding once you have bromine in your water, you have a bromine spa. The only way to go with a chlorine system would be to drain and flush and start all over.
